A 23-year-old Bengaluru man was arrested for playing pranks on women on an escalator in a metro station and inside a train and sharing the videos of the same on his Instagram account, a Times of India report said.

A Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official said that the man, identified as Prajwal, shared the videos on Instagram Reels under the account name of "Pranker" Praju and the videos were recorded in July.

In one of the videos shared on Instagram Reels, Prajwal could be using the escalator and acting as if he had developed a seizure. An elderly woman, who was one step behind him on the escalator, could be seen feeling frightened by his behavior. In another video, he could be seen playing the same prank inside a train.

A complaint was filed by an assistant security officer of BMRCL at a local police station. "The youth's act is unacceptable and goes against the rules and etiquette one needs to follow while using the Metro. An elderly woman panicked when he played the prank on a moving escalator. Even inside the Metro coach, passengers panicked seeing his act," a security officer told Times of India.

The officer added that the number plate on the man's bike helped them identify and arrest him. "The number plates of a bike used for another reel helped us identify him. The real name of the person is Prajwal and he is a resident of Nagarbhavi. A case has been booked against him and investigation is on," he said.

In addition to getting arrested, Prajwal was also fined Rs 500 for his behavior and for creating nuisance inside the metro train. After the arrest, the man gave an undertaking that he would not behave in a similar manner in future.

Prajwal has 8321 followers on Instagram and the reels section of his page gives an glimpse of the popularity of videos, with views ranging from 2,000-97,000.
