Understand
Already known as "Garden City of India" and "Pensioners' Paradise," these terms no longer apply to Bengaluru, which is now a large cosmopolitan city with a large working population and fewer and fewer green spaces. Bengaluru is central to the development of India's information technology industry. He is called "Silicon Valley of India".
History
The first censuses of a place called "Bengaluru" were found in a 9th century temple located in what is now known as "Old Bangalore".
Legend has it that feudal lord Kempe Gowda has already hunted this place. A rabbit would have turned around to attack his dog, making a strong impression on the lord who would have named the place gandu bhoomi (the place of heroes). In 1537, with the assistance of the local king, he built three districts protected by a fort. For the next three centuries, Bengaluru lived in the shadow of the neighboring town of Mysore. Bengaluru's management changes hands several times.
The year 1831 marked a turning point in the city's history. Declaring that the city is being mismanaged by King Krishna Raja Wodeyar III, the British took control of the Kingdom of Mysore Kingdom and, probably influenced by the city's healthy climate, moved the administrative capital to Bengaluru. New telecommunications systems are being installed, government buildings are being built, and the city's famous gardens and parks are being set up. After independence, Bengaluru continued its development as the capital of Karnata.
For several years, the city has been recognized as the greenest, most liberal and most progressive city in India. In recent years, this reputation has propelled Bengaluru to the forefront of India's high-tech boom, placing it at the top of India's industrialized cities and making it one of the world's fastest-growing urban areas.
The name "Bangalore" seems to be an Anglicism with the original name "Bengaluru", itself an adaptation of the Kannadian name Benda Kaalu Uru (the city of boiled beans). This name was allegedly bequeathed by King Vira Ballala. Lost in this area, he would have been offered beans boiled by an old woman and baptized the place in gratitude for this gesture.

From the airport (BIAL) to the city

- Buses: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC)[22] manages bus routes from various parts of the city to the international airport (BLR) every 15 minutes. A total of 156 buses arrive and depart from the airport. 40 of them are air-conditioned Volvo, called Vayu Vajra. The price of a trip in one of them varies from 50 to 250 Rs, depending on the distance to be crossed. This is the cheapest and most convenient way to get to the airport. Service is available daily and every night. Note, however, that you will need someone to pick you up at the bus stop, otherwise you will have to take a rickshaw ride for the last mile.
- BIAL Taxi chose two companies (Meru and EasyCabs) to provide the taxi service. Drivers typically drive A/C-type automobiles, equipped with positioning systems to ensure safety and transparency. The two companies have professional call centers allowing, in particular, to bring a taxi to a particular place and then to go to the airport.
Users claimed that Meru taxis are very unreliable. They are known to cancel reservations at the last minute (for example, when the driver finds a better deal on the way). For travelers arriving at the airport, there is a dedicated place for taxis. The rate is about 20 Rs / km (according to a government regulation). It is the best and most efficient way of transport from the airport. It will cost you about Rs 600 to get to the city center and about Rs 700 to Koramangala.
There is another reliable taxi company, KSTDC, run by the state government of Karnataka. You can find them as soon as you step out of the airport's lobby. They will cost you between 800 and 1000 Rs to go anywhere in Bangalore.
- Group taxis: Managed by Airlift. As soon as you exit the airport terminal, look for the green indication of the Volvo bus stop. Group taxis are yellow and green Toyota Innovas parked next to them. Practical and cheaper than individual taxis, it will cost you about Rs 300 to get to the city center. Air-conditioned, they offer each passenger a TV screen.
- Pre-paid Hertz and Akbar Travels Taxis provide a pre-paid limousine service as well as car rental. It will cost you about Rs 1,200 to get to the city center.
- Car rental: It is also possible to rent a car at the airport. There are several categories: compact (Suzuki Swift), intermediate (Ford Fiesta), standard (Toyota corolla), multi-utility (Toyota Innova) and SUVs (Ford Endeavor). These cars are supplied to tenants with the tank full and they must be returned so. The city has infrastructure to recover or make rented vehicles easily. The tenant can take the car at the airport and leave it elsewhere in the city, in Hyderabad or Chennai and vice versa. Drivers must be over 21 years of age and have a valid driving license in India. In this country, it is not as easy to rent a car as in the West. You have to fill out a lot of paperwork and depending on the company and type of vehicle you rent, a large deposit can be requested.
